The Poetic Yes, And

Say "yes, and" to a whole new way of expressing yourself. This six-week course blends the spontaneity of improv with the artistry of poetry to help you connect with your inner creative voice. Through a mix of group games, literary discussions, and writing prompts, you will discover how the principles of improv can spark innovative poetry and unlock new creative possibilities.
Whether you are a seasoned writer, an improv enthusiast, or a complete beginner to both, this class is designed to help you feel safer, more confident, and deeply in touch with your creative side. Come play, write, and explore in a supportive environment that encourages creativity and growth.
This is an adult class for participants aged 18 and older. No prior experience in poetry or improv is necessary—just bring your curiosity and a willingness to say "yes!"

Meet your faculty:
Heather Paul-Tillery is a deep believer of the wisdom of the natural world, and enjoys weaving her narrative with that of the earth. Her poetry appears in Prairie Schooner, Cagibi Journal, I-70 Review, and elsewhere. Heather lives with her husband, three children, grumpy cat, and anxious dog, and is a small business owner. She enjoys teaching partnering with the Blue Door Theater immensely, and sharing the love of poetry with the community.

Refund Policy
Students may cancel their course registration and request a full refund up to seven days prior to their course's start date. If students request a refund within three to six days before the course's start date, a 50% refund will be issued. Refund requests made after these cut-off times will not be issued. Please note, service fees are not refundable.
You may request a transfer to the next session of the same course. One transfer will be made. No refunds will be offered when a student transfers to another course. If the Blue Door Theatre/Spokane School of Improv cancels a course, refunds will be issued.
